ISU Competition – Vernon

International Skating Union Adult Figure Skating Competition
September 16th – 19th

Thank you for the interest and support of my journey getting to an international adult figure skating competition.

I will compete in three events, from Wednesday to Friday, September 16-18. The entire event is live-streamed and can be watched right on the Skating In BC website.

  1. International Adult Gold Solo Pattern Dance or Solo Ice Dance Gold Pattern Dance. The key notes here are “solo”, “pattern” and “gold”. I will compete two pattern dances that are done throughout the world and have been done for decades. This event will run from 1:17 – 3:10 on Wednesday. I should be skating close to 1:45 and then again at about 2:20.
  2. International Adult Gold Singles Women II or Gold Women Artistic Freeskate II.  This is a program that just incorporates the music and the interpretation of the music. No required elements are included. The II in the title means I will compete with skaters within a decade of my age, between 38 and 45. This event will run from 4:29 – 5:13 on Thursday. I am the first skater, so I will be competing at 4:30.
  3. International Adult Gold Women II or Gold Women Free Skating II. The final event is the freeskate event. This event is the hardest, a three-minute program with 3 required spins and 5 required jumps. This event takes place at 1:57 on Friday. I will be competing around 2:20.

Summary:

Wednesday: Dance event starts at 1:17. I should skate at 1:45 and 2:20.
Thursday: Artistic event starts at 4:29. I should skate at 4:30.
Friday: Freeskate event starts at 1:57. I should skate at 2:20.

Sometimes events can run late but almost never run early.

From practice wrap to competition ready! ISU Vernon is one week away!! Too late if we’re not ready! I skate with thin socks, my ankle pads, fleece lined leggings and either beige tights or black leggings. You? Adding a choreo slide to the end of the Paso. Fun addition to the solo pattern dance! 20 days till #isuadult2026 First time competing solo pattern dance. Should be fun! 21 days to #isuadult2026 Gotta love an empty ice spiral sequence! Any other skaters find that you end up with all your skating clothes in your bag at the same time? With nothing in your drawer! I love that moment where you think you're absolutely nailing a spin until you change position. Good times! After a 3 week break for a knee that is not agreeing with me, I got back on the ice with my new wrap skirt!! Feels good to be back! Quick trip to Calgary and found some ice at @calaltafsc What a busy and successful club!! Well done coaches, athletes and parents! Thanks for welcoming me!
