In my twenties and thirties, I was the girl that would drive across the parking lot from the grocery store to the pharmacy. I would never have walked! My body hurt and walking was quite painful for me. I spent my youth and early twenties as a competitive figure skater and if you’ve ever watched skating before, there is some falling. That falling takes its toll on the body.

I spent the better part of my twenties recovering from my skating life and working toward a pain free life. I saw multiple chiropractors, physiotherapists, and later on added rolfing, accupuncture, and massage. One of the chiropractors I saw, after doing some Xrays, asked me about the car accident I had been in. I was confused, as I had not ever been in an accident. He mentioned that the vertibrae in my neck curved the wrong direction and that was text book whiplash from a car accident. I though for a moment and then asked him if hundreds of micro whiplash exposures could do the same thing? After I explained my skating history, he agreed that it made sense that this was the cause.

He created a plan and we worked hard with many visits and many exercises over the course of several months. This worked for the chronic headaches that had been experienced for years but did not touch the lower back and glut pain that I had from walking.

Nearly ten years later and multiple modalities and practitioners later, I found another chiropractor that gave me relief for my hip, glut, lower back pain and cramping. Now I could walk!

In the summer of 2019, I added the challenge of gastro issues. I had never had any chronic gastro concerns but now I was afraid to eat. Food was either going straight through me or was staying in my gut for way too long. I could eat the same thing two days in a row and have the opposite gasto reaction each day. To me this was not an allergy, as I assumed this would have meant that the reactions should be the same. But for some reason, my body was not tolerating that food and was just angry.

To be continued…..
